A projectile launched from Lebanon was neutralized in proximity to Israel's financial hub Tel Aviv on Wednesday, according to Israel's military, marking an uncommon offensive far from the typical battlegrounds with Hezbollah.

"In response to the alert sirens that resonated through the Tel Aviv and Netanya regions, a single ground-to-ground missile was detected traversing from Lebanon and was successfully intercepted by the IDF's Air Defense Network," stated the Israeli military.

No immediate accounts of destruction or casualties were reported.

Since the eruption of hostilities between Israel and Hamas in October of the previous year, the Iran-supported militant organization Hezbollah has discharged numerous rockets and unmanned aerial vehicles from Lebanon targeting northern Israeli territories.

The missile interception follows recent Israeli offensives against the militant group that resulted in over 500 fatalities across Lebanon. The preceding Monday marked the most lethal day in Lebanon in nearly two decades.

Hezbollah has yet to issue a statement regarding the attempted strike on Tel Aviv.

Operations at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport proceeded as usual, according to the airport's representative.

Alert sirens were heard Wednesday in the central urban area of Netanya for the first time since October 7, 2023, as reported by Israeli authorities.
