Officials Concerned Over USPS 2024 Ballot Delivery

Election officials raise concerns over USPS’s ability to deliver millions of ballots accurately and on time for the 2024 presidential election.

Roughly three dozen state and local election officials voiced significant concerns on Wednesday regarding the U.S. Postal Service’s ability to handle the delivery of millions of ballots for the 2024 presidential election.

In a letter from the National Association of State Election Directors and other state and local officials, they expressed that "serious questions" had been raised about how USPS processes election mail, particularly regarding operational issues at processing facilities, misplaced or delayed ballots, and training shortcomings that could hinder the timely and accurate delivery of election mail.

The officials noted that, despite several meetings with USPS election staff, "we have not observed improvements or targeted efforts to address these concerns."
