The White House spoke out against former President Donald Trump on Thursday for his ties to far-right conspiracy believer Laura Loomer, who has been going around with the Republican presidential candidate this week.

Loomer says she doesn't work for Trump. But, she has talked about speaking to him about political stuff and often visits his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. Her provocative posts on X, where she has 1.2 million followers, sometimes seem to give Trump ideas for his next attacks.

Before Trump's debate with Democratic Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris on Tuesday, Loomer said that if Harris, who has Indian roots, won the Nov. 5 election, "the White House will smell like curry & White House speeches will be done through a call center."

"These kinds of comments are disgusting, it's un-American to say these kinds of things, exactly the type of hateful and dividing talk that we should speak out against," White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said on Thursday.

"No leader should ever be around someone who spreads this kind of ugliness, this kind of racist poison," Jean-Pierre said.

Loomer flew with Trump to his Tuesday debate in Pennsylvania and was in New York with him and his team on Wednesday for a remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001, al Qaeda attacks, as shown in videos and photos.

Loomer has before suggested the Sept. 11 attacks were done by insiders by sharing a video last year on Twitter that pushed that conspiracy theory. She has since changed her mind and told CNN in an interview published on Thursday that the attacks were done by "Islamic terrorists."

Trump's campaign, when asked about the White House criticism of his ties to Loomer, didn't directly talk about their relationship but said he tried to bring both sides together in the Wednesday ceremony marking the Sept. 11 attacks.

In an online post, Loomer brushed off the White House criticism, saying she wasn't racist and suggesting that Jean-Pierre, whose parents came from Haiti, was critical because she didn't like Loomer's social media post on Thursday about a false claim that Haitian immigrants are eating pets.
